COOPER, EFFIE

Effie was born to Elihu and Emaline Pilgrim in St. Anthony Bight on August 16, 1914. at the age of 12 she moved to St. Anthony to care for two children who had lost their mother. she worked at the IGA hospital as a staff waitress where she met the love of her life, Harold Cooper. they married Nov. 6 1935. together they raised two children, tony and Marilyn. she was a homemaker, until she moved to the west side of the harbour when she started taking in boarders. she loved playing cards, baking and reading, but most of all she loved to travel. she loved her family and enjoyed the family gatherings. Effie passed away into peace on the evening of the 23rd of July in 2014 at the age of 99. she will be sadly missed by her daughter Marilyn, brother Maitland, sister Una (Tony), Daughter in law Celeste (John), Grandchildren Glenda (Tom), Lori (Ed), Tara (Kirk), Brenda (Eric), and Wade (Sheila). great grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Morigan, Erica, Jodi, Shauna and Tony, her many nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Effie lived to see the passing of her Husband Harold, son Tony, son in law freeman, five sisters Lottie, hazel, Mabel, Lulu, and Ethel. as well as her brother Lewis. visitation was held at the funeral home in St. Anthony, after which the funeral service took place at St. Mary's Anglican Church in St. Anthony at 2:00pm on July 26th, 2014 with Rev'd. Fr. Paul C. Findlay. burial followed at 9:00am on Monday July 28th at the old Anglican cemetery in St. Anthony. funeral arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. DEMPSTER, ELLEN LILLIAN

Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Centre on the 23rd Day of July 2014. Mrs.  Ellen Dempster of Nameless Cove was in her 74th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Husband Wallace Dempster; Son Shawn(Connie); Daughter Shona(Amos); Grandchildren Kyle, Kendall and Laci; Brothers Eldon, Derrick, Cletis, Dalton; Sister Lydia as well as a large circle of other family and friends. She was predeceased by her Father Spoffard Earle; Mother Isabella Earle and Brother Norman. Visitation was held at the Gospel Hall in Nameless Cove from which the Funeral Service was held at 2:00pm on the 27th day of July 2014 with Gilbert Linstead and Edward Barney officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. Fillatre Funeral Homes, Sat. Anthony and Roddickton, Lee Nippard Funeral Director.


LODER, DORA

Passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness, with her family by her side, Mrs. Dora Loder of Cooks Harbour in her 84th year.  Left to mourn are daughters Marilyn (partner Ted Blanchard) and Ida (husband Fred Berry), brother Wilfred Elliott, Sister in law Phyllis Loder, many nieces, nephews and friends especially Wavey Loder who provided many years of support.  Dora was predeceased by Husband Harvey Loder. Visitation was held at the Wesley United church in Cooks Harbour, From which the funeral service was conducted at 2:00pm on Wednesday July 23rd with Pastor Gus Pendleton officiating. Burial followed the funeral at the Cooks Harbour United Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Wesley United Church, Cook's Harbour. MANUEL, LAWRENCE MAXWELL

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 18th day of July 2014. Mr. Lawrence Maxwell Manuel of St. Liunaire-Griquet was in his 52nd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Belinda Manuel, Sons Sheldon and Kyle, Brother David (Ellen) Manuel, Parents Ford and Marilyn Manuel as well as a large circle of other family and friends. Visitation was held at the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. Lunaire-Griquet, NL  from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 21st day of July 2014 with Pastor Jon Collins officiating. HUGHES, WHYMAN

Passed away peacefully in to rest at his private home in Green Island Brook at the age of 71, Mr. Whyman Hughes. Whyman Leaves behind with a lifetime of loving memories, his son Brian (Wanda), daughters Brenda (Keith ) Russell, Beulah (Wayne), Keefe, his grand children Tara, Alicia, Keith, Jake and Josh, His brothers  Bill, Roland, Flick (Frances), Nat (Patsy), Winston (Mona), sisters Amy (Stanley) Coates, Elva Caddy, Beulah (David) Wells, Sheila (Frank) Whalen, Brothers in law Lawernce (Jean) Noseworthy, Eric (Mae) Noseworthy, Norman (Helen) Nosweorthy, Gorvin (Sarah), Noseworthy, Garland (Priscella) Noseworthy, Selby (Lorraine) Noseworthy, Wade Noseworthy, Roland Macey, Peter Webb, sisters in laws Phoebe Hughest, Vera Hughes, Sadie Way, Velma Noseworthy, Winnie Major, Emily (Gideon) Hughes and a large circle of family and friends. Whyman was predeceased by his wife Rosie, Parents John and Bridget, Parents in law Selby and Mary Noseworthy, Brothers Baxter and Claude, Sisters Stella and Maria, brother in laws Osborne Noseworthy, Orval Caddy, Robert Major, Henry way, sister in law Marg Hughes, Currie Macey, and Cassie Webb. Visitation was held at the St.Andrews Anglican Church in Lower Cove, after which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on Saturday July 19th, 2014 with Rev. Marlene Harvey and Lay person Maxine Hughes officiating. burial followed the service in the Green Island Brook Anglican Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Kerry M. HOWELL, MARGARET CLARA

Margaret Clara Hancock was born in Goose Cove, NL on August 11, 1952 to Joseph and Agnes Hancock.  She grew up in the community with her two brothers, John and Phillip, and her two sisters Theresa and Elizabeth.  Margaret graduated high school at Harriot Curtis Collegiate, and went on to graduate as a Registered Nurse from Western Memorial School of Nursing in Corner Brook in 1975.  She then came to work in Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthon, where she spent time in many roles, but most enjoyed her time in the Emergency Dept. Margaret married Guy Howell in 1980.  They had two children, Krista Lynn and Christopher.  After an early retirement from her profession, Margaret spent a great deal of her time involved in activities at her church, Bethel Pentecostal Church.  She enjoyed cooking and caring for others.  She gave tirelessly of her time and love to anyone and everyone who came in her path. Margaret Passed away into Peace on 10th of July, 2014, with her family by her side. She leaves to mourn her husband, Guy, daughter Krista Lynn, son Christopher (Stefanie), sister Theresa (Edward), sister Elizabeth, brother Phillip (Gail), mother in law Flora, sister in law Selma, brother in law Todd (Sandra), several nieces and nephews, and a large circle of other family and friends. She is predeceased by her father and mother, Joseph and Agnes as well as her brother John.  Visitation was held at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, from which the funeral service was held at 2:00pm on the 13th of July with Pastor Jeff Bessey officiating. WAY, JOHN JACOB

Passed peacefully away at the age of 94 years at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony surrounded by family and friends, Mr. John Jacob Way (March 12, 1920 - June 30, 2014) he leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories hes sister Edna Coles, The way Families and a large circle of family and friends. John is predeceased by his wife Una Way (Chambers), his father, Matthew Way; his mother, Minnie Genge; Brothers, Roland, Stephen, Darius, George and George Jr. ; Sisters Virginia Gardiner, Jane Simms, Effie Arnold, Cecilia Boyd, Millie Genge, Dora Coles, Laura. Visitation was held at St. Marks Anglican Church in Savage Cove From which the family service took place at 8:00pm on Wednesday july 2. the funeral service was held at 11:00am on Thursday July 3, with Rev. Irving Letto Officiating. Interment followed at the savage cove/ sandy cove Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements where entrusted to Kerry M. PYNN, ADA DAPHNE

Ada Pynn was born on may 11, 1933 in St. Lunaire to Thomas and Deborah Bussey. she married Gilbert Pynn of Quirpon on Feb. 27th 1953, they were blessed with 4 Children; 2 daughters and 2 sons, who made them proud grandparents to 3 grandsons and 1 grand daughter. Ada worked a short time with FPI. she was a loving  Wife, Mother, grandmother. she was a very Caring and fun loving person who loved to entertain and bring smiles to peoples faces. .on June 28th 2014 she passed peacefully away at the john m. gray center surrounded my her family . she will be missed by a large circle of family and friends. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her two daughters Elizabeth (Wes), Donna(Don), two sons John (Joyce), and Rick (Glenys), five Grandchildren Cory, Chris, Vanessa, Justin and Michael, Six Great Grandchildren , Two sisters Mable and Betty, Three Brothers Charles, David, and Fred and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and family as well as friends. She was predeceased by her husband Gilbert, Parents Thomas and Deborah Bussey, Sister Effie, June and Nina and Brother Don. The visitation was held first at the funeral home in St. Anthony and Concluded at Central United Church in Quirpon. From which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on Thursday July 3rd, 2014 with Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. HANCOCK, MINNIE MAY

Passed peacefully away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital on the 23rd day of June 2014. Miss Minnie May Hancock of Roddickton was in her 57th year. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her Friend Andrew Compton, two sons Tyson(Caryn), Goose Bay, NL; Jason(Candace), Devon AB; Twin Sister Mary Wilcox(Gus Rumbolt), four grandchildren Brett Hancock, James, Arrick and Kiyerria, Stepfather John Seymour, Springdale, NL; Niece Patti Canning(Barry), Devon AB; as well as a large circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Shem and Ethel Hancock. Visitation took place at the Calvary Pentecostal Temple in Roddickton from which the funeral service took place at 2:00pm on the 26th day of June2014 with Pastor G.B. Pinksen officiating. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Nelson; sons Barry (Dale), Rol (Joy) and Nelson (Dorcas); daughters Miriam (Leslie), and Nita (Stephane); grandchildren Chasity (Gavin), Kelly (Christopher), Robby (Holly), Gina (Boyd), Jack (Tori), Dillon, Eric, and Rendell (Keisha); great-grandchildren Dustin, Peyton, Anna, and Brooklyn; special family Rosie McLean, brother Roland (Ivy), sisters Alma (Gerald), Eva (Garfield), Eliza (Edmund), Sarah, Barbara (Harris), and Mona (Stanley), as well as a large circle of other family and friends.
