FOWLER, STELLA

August 15, 1936 - July 15, 2024

It is with great sadness had heaviest hearts that the family of the late Stella Fowler announce her passing in the presence of her family on July 15th at the age of 87 years.

Leaving to mourn with many fond memories are her daughters: Jessie, Joan, Dorothy, Colleen; Sons-in-law: Bob and Al; Grandchildren: David, Michael (Courtney), Andrew, Maurice (Catherine), Cynthia (Matt); Great-grandchildren: Rebel, Zoey, Liv, Emily, Liam, Jackson, Carson; Sister: Jessie Elms; Sister-in-laws: Cora Fowler, Barbara Fowler, Selma Fowler; and Brother-in-law: Gary Fowler.

Stella will be missed but leaves many fun memories behind wither her home league and church families.

Stella was predeceased by her husband: David; Daughter: Glenda; Parents: Benjamin and Joanna Smith; and an infant brother. Also gone before her was her son-in-law: Maurice Gillingham; Brother-in-law: Leonard, Edward, Delano Fowler, Gary Hammond, Raymond Tilley; Sister-in-law: Dorothy Hammond, Gertrude Prahl, and Viola Tilley.

Many thanks go to her devoted caregivers, especially Sheila. The family would also like to express their greatest gratitude for the excellent nursing care she received.

Friends and family are welcomed to the Salvation Army Church in St. Anthony to say “until we meet again” on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 am with Corps Sg. Major Don Noble officiating. interment to follow in the Salvation Army Cemetery.

Flowers are graciously accepted as well as donations to the Salvation Army Cemetery fund.

KEARNEY, LAURA

Sept 28, 1946-July 14, 2024

Laura passed peacefully away surrounded by her family on July 14, 2024.

Laura Mary Kearney (Byrne) was born in Conche Sept 28, 1946. She married Donald Kearney May 1968. They raised 4 beautiful children. Karen, Darlene, Mae and Chris. Laura's children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. Laura was a woman of true faith. She raised her children on values she believed in to be kind and honest and always love one another.

She leaves to mourn her husband Don of 56 years, daughters Karen (Andrew), Darlene (George), Mae (Eric), Son Christopher (Christa); Grandchildren, Toni, Gregory (Rachel) Hunter, Mackenzie (David), Logan, Erica, (Johnny), Ashton, Caidyn, Connor and Maggie. Sisters Margaret (Art) and Theresa. As well her sister in law Marie Byrne, Mae Simmonds, Angela Dillon, Gertie (Gerry) Bromley, Brothers in-laws Frank (Mariella) Kearney, Jerome (Margaret) Kearney, Calvin Humphries and Lawrence Casey as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.

Laura is predeceased by her parents Margaret and Elias Byrne, in-laws Vincent and Marie Kearney, grand daughter Katie Marie Hunt, nephews Darren Kearney, Vincent Kearney, Steve Meaney, sisters Sadie Meaney, Rose Humphries and Mary Casey, brothers Mike, Vincent and Gerald Byrne, Also her brother in Laws John Meaney and Reynold Bujold, George Dillon and Tony Simmonds. Sister in laws Lucy Byrne, Aline Byrne.

Special thanks to all our family for their continued support, her home care workers over the past few years. As well special thanks to the staff at the John M Gray for your support and the tremendous care you showed to our beautiful mother. Visitation to take place from the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Conche on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 2-4 pm. The wake service will take place at 7:00 pm on Wednesday with the funeral to follow at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 18, 2024 with Fr. George officiating. Interment to follow.

NOSEWORTHY, RICHARD BOLDEN

September 12, 1942 - July 5, 2024

Bolden Noseworthy passed away in his 81st year on July 5, 2024.

Bolden is forever remembered and loved by his Wife: Susan; Daughter: Cynthia, Son: Daran; Daughter Corrine; Special son: Brodie; Grandchildren: Landon, Samantha, Nicolas, Stephanie, Brady’ Great-grandchildren: Kirsten and Aksel; Son-in-law Terry; Daughter-in-law: Ivy; Sisters: Eliza, Ruth, Ada; Brother: Llewellyn; Brothers-in-law: Norman, Roy, Seymour, Herman and families; Sisters-in-law: Josephine, Rita, Rebecca, Neta, and families, as well as many other extended family and friends.

He is predeceased by his Son: Dennis Noseworthy; Parents: Josiah and Nora Noseworthy; Mother & Father-in-law: John and Blanche Quinlan; Sisters: Diane, Irene, and Gertie.

Visitation to take place from St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Savage Cove beginning the evening of Saturday, July 13, 2024 and will continue on Sunday, July 14, 2024. The funeral service will be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Canon Vernon Short officiating. Interment to follow.

SNOW, ELIZA

Eliza Snow passed away peacefully at her home on July 6, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones. She had lost her nine month battle with cancer at the age of 69.

Eliza was born on November 24, 1954 to Albert and Effie Pynn of Quirpon. She met the love her life, Robert Snow, and married on January 24, 1975 and together they had four children: Nicole (Wade), Jennifer, Georgina (Jason) and Bobby. She spent her life working, raising her family, and making friends along the way. She was also blessed with four grandchildren: Cody, Robby (Nicole), Caitlyn, & Kyle.

Eliza leaves to mourn her husband, her children, her grandchildren; Sister: Annie Lambert; Brother: Bradley (Peggy) Pynn; Sister-in-law: Patsy Pynn as well as a large circle of family and friends.

She is predeceased by her daughter: Jennifer; Parents: Albert and Effie Pynn; Brother: George Pynn; and brother-in-law: Guy Lambert.

The family would like to send a thank-you to those who sent condolences and supported us in any way at this difficult time. We would also like to extend our thanks to the staff at the Charles S. HODGE, SIBYL

March 28, 1947 - July 4, 2024

Passed away at the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL on July 4, 2024 at the age of 77 years.

Sibyl was born and raised in Savage Cove and spent her entire life in the community Everyone in and around the community was always met with her beautiful smile and her positive attitude, one that she carried no matter what the circumstances were.

There was no trouble to catch her at one of the local bingo games or card games in the surrounding communities at any given night. She was most proud of her boys Morgan and Bradley and would do anything for them and her grandsons. Her heart was as pure as they came and every one who knew her had no choice but to love her. She was an amazing wife, mom, Nan, sister and friend.

She is forever loved and remembered by her Son: Brad and family, Daughter-in-law: Jenny and family; Grandchildren: Brett, Bradley, and Ty; Sister: Jessie and family; Brother-in-law: Scott and family; Brother-in-law: Harvey and family; Brother-in-law: Wilson and family; Sister-in-law: Olga and family; Sister-in-law: Minnie and family, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband: Sterling; Son: Morgan; Sister: Barb; and her parents: Hilda and Henry Way; Sisters-in-law: Lorraine and Lucy; Brother-in-law: Clifford and Lloyd.

Sibyl was blessed to have the best homecare workers Diane, Carmel and Jenny who went above and beyond to keep her home, right where she wanted to be. We will be forever grateful for the care she received and all the time she got to sit in her favourite chair and look out her window.

We would like to thank the Staff at Curtis Memorial Hospital, the Health Science center as well as the Flowers Cove hospital for all the care that Sibyl received during multiple visits. She was very lucky to have you all.

CASEY, MARY MARGARET

Mary Margaret Casey (nee Byrne)
May 4, 1944 – June 30, 2024

Mary passed peacefully away on June 30, 2024. She was 80 yrs old. She left to mourn her husband of 55 years, Lawrence “Lar”, her 5 children Daphne (Jill Barron), Derek (Julie), Larry (Melissa Davidson), Paul (Jackie Butt), and Matthew (Stephanie Hibbs), her 7 grandchildren Allie, Leah, Finn, Anna, Holly, Nathan, and Isabella, and 1 great-grandson Leo.  She is also leaving behind her sisters Theresa, Laura (Don Kearney), Margaret (Arthur Sturge), and sister-in-law Marie Byrne and brothers-in-law Calvin Humphries and George Casey, and her much loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Elias Byrne and her beloved siblings, Rose Humphries, Sadie Meaney, and Gerald, Michael, and Vincent Byrne, her in-laws Stephen and Ellen Casey, William Casey, Bridget Lewis, Angela Power, and Margaret Hunt.

Mary’s primary focus in life was her family. She was a wonderful and kind mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She taught us the values we will always live by. She loved us all unconditionally.

She was a woman of great faith. If you were on her mind, for whatever reason, you can be assured that Mary remembered you in her prayers. Her faith always brought her great comfort.

The family would like to thank all those who cared for Mom during her final years, especially her caregiver and cousin, Lucy Byrne. Mom was able to live at home for two extra years thanks to Lucy’s incredible compassion and great care. The staff at Curtis Memorial Hospital were there for her in her last few months and we had no worries about her care because they treated her like family. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

Visitation is at 8:00 PM Wednesday, July 3rd and Funeral Service is at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 4th. Both will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Conche

LYONS, JAMES

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Scott Lyons announce his passing on June 26, 2024, at the age of 44. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife Heidi, his children Madisyn and Caleb; mother Sharlene Martin; father and step-mother David & Therese Lyons; mother and father in law Wilson & Marjorie Budden; His sister Jennifer(Matt); stepbrother Jamie(Jennifer); stepsister Jennifer(Darrell); brother in law Christopher(Judy). His nephew Joe; nieces Erica, Kaleigh, Julia, Abbegayle, Amelia & Kaitlyn.  He will be sadly missed by his energetic and loving pet Champ! James was a strong man, demonstrated by his perseverance and faith throughout his illness. He loved his family immeasurably, his faith in God and the Edmonton Oilers.  He served in the RCAF as an air traffic controller and after 21 1/2 years of service, he moved to Gander, NL with his family to start a new career with NAV CANADA. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A public visitation will be held at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Roddickton, NL on July 5 between 2 and 4 PM and 7 and 9 PM.

Funeral service for James will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, at Calvary Pentecostal Church, Roddickton, NL. Burial will follow at the Calvary Pentecostal Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Health Sciences Center who cared for James during his time there. Sincere thanks go out to all those who offered prayers, support and hospitality during this difficult time.

BURTON, BONNIE

December 22, 1946 - July 2, 2024

Bonnie passed away on July 2nd at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL at 77 years old.

She leaves to mourn her daughter Ashley (Sarah), her son Raymond, and her sister Ella Jeans as well as her lifelong friends who became family: Mikki Vincent, Inga Coombs, Chris Patey, Joy Pilgrim and Clare Horton.

She was predeceased by her spouse of 25 years, Edward Whiteway, her parents Jean and Stephen Jeans and her grandparents Tom and Nellie Boyd.

In her younger years her dad was in St. Johns fighting TB and with her Mother busy teaching, Bonnie was raised by her grandparents, Tom and Nellie Boyd of Main Brook.

At the age of 19, Bonnie moved to Toronto, ON. She worked and raised her two children until she moved back to Main Brook to care for her grandfather in his later years. Bonnie spent a year in St. Johns fighting cancer and the doctors would ask her to visit with other patients in the unit. She could always make you feel good about yourself through her sense of humour and wisdom. For years after she would receive letters and cards from all the people she helped.

Her enjoyment came from many things like flowers and getting her hands in the dirt. Her love of animals and knitting. There was always a ball of wool with needles by her chair. The house was never empty as everyone knew they were welcome to drop in for a cup of coffee.

Ashley would like to sincerely thank the staff of John M. Gray for the excellent care of Bonnie in her later years.

Cremation has taken place and the burial service arrangements will be announced next summer when her daughter Ashley arrives home.

SAUNDERS, HERBERT BAXTER

Passed away surrounded by family on June 29, Herb Saunders of St. Lunaire, at the age of 82 Predeceased by his parents, Olive and Fred Saunders, sister Gladys, and Grandchildren David and Adrienne. He leaves to mourn his wife of 57 years, Evangeline, his daughters Lynn (Mike) and Janice, his son Boyd (Jennifer), 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Also, his 4 brothers, 5 sisters and a vast circle of friends and family He was a fisherman for the majority of his life and loved working with his hands. He loved to pass on his knowledge and skills to his kids, grandkids, and anyone who wanted to learn. He enjoyed everything “outdoors”, fishing, hunting, cutting wood and cutting moose and his favorite pastime was berrypicking. He had an impact on many lives, everyone he's met, and will be forever missed and loved.
Visitation is being held at the Pentecostal Church in St. Lunaire - Griquet on Monday July 1st from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm, with the funeral service being held at 2pm on July 2nd, 2024 with pastors Geoff and Charity butler officiating. burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

STONE, DONALD FREDERICK

Donald Frederick Stone
May 9, 1936 – June 26, 2024

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Donald Frederick Stone announce his passing in the presence of his youngest brother on June 26, 2024 at the Labrador - Grenfell Health Long Term Care Facility in Labrador City at the age of 88.

Donald was born in Mary’s Harbour, Labrador on May 9th,1936 and grew up and lived in Henley Harbour, Labrador where he spent most of his life fishing, hunting, cutting wood and sawing lumber to care for family and he loved every minute of it. He was a proud Labradorian who had fond memories of his homestead on the coast of labrador. He lived a full life and had numerous stories to tell, true or untrue, no one knows. His great sense of humour will be fondly remembered. Donald was a kind man who touched the lives of many.

Donald will be dearly missed by his surviving brothers Herbert, Raymond, Roderick, Harvey and sisters Effie and Nellie.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Agnes, sisters Margaret, Eva, Judy and brother Jack.

The family would like to thank the staff of Labrador - Grenfell Long Term Care Home for their kindness and support in our time of need.

As per Donald’s request, cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements will be announced later.
