Passed away into peace on the 8th of December, 2018, Ms. Ursula F. Loder of St. Anthony Newfoundland (originally of Harbour Deep) in her 74th year. Left to mourn are Ursulas nephew Eddy Cassell, Eddies spouse Nicole and their children Amy and Jonah, sisters Marie Hiscock, Ida Ropson, Annie Compton, Marjorie Cassell (Paul), brothers Gerald Loder, Freeman Loder, her spicial life long friends Gladys, Tony and their son Christoper, as well as many Nieces, Nephews and Friends. Ursula was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Delilah Loder; Sister Stella Ellsworth, Brother Andrew; Brothers in law, Roland Ellsworth, Eliol Hiscock, Richard Ropson, Norman Compton, and George Cassell. Visitation was held at the Funeral Home in St. Anthony on Dec. 10th and 11th. The funeral took place from St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. August 26, 1950 – December 5, 2018
Passed away December 5th, 2018 from the Charles S. Curtis Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 68 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her Siblings, Dulcie, Elva, Robert, Wilson, Ford, Lawrence; as well as all of her nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own. Jessie was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Kenneth Adams, and Brother Wilfred Adams. Visitation was held from Calvary Pentecostal Church in Roddickton from where the funeral was held on Saturday, December 8th, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Benjamin Brown officiating. September 14, 1937 - December 4, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Carl May announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Tuesday morning, December 4, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Carl was born in Point Rosie, Fortune Bay, NL on September 14, 1937.  He met Ursula Hopkins from Roddickton in St. John’s and they were married at Botwood, NL on November 11, 1960.  Carl loved spending time with family and friends.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, berry picking, boating and was a loyal Montreal Canadiens fan.  He was a kind, devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.  Left to mourn with fond and loving memories is his loving wife, Ursula of 58 years, children Pauline Bartlett (Maurice) St. Anthony, NL; Paul May (Betty) Humber Valley Resort, NL; Lynn Hunt (Randy) Port au Port, NL; Eugene May (Madonna) Pasadena, NL; Richard May Bird Cove, NL; and Todd May (Cindy) St. Thomas, ON.  Grandchildren Tennelle (Noland); Michael; Charmayne (David); Laura (Andrew); Beverley; Jennifer (Darren); Randall (Keshia); Andrew; Hannah; Matt and Erin.  Great Grandchildren; Ross James; Emma; Claire and Roman; his brother Sidney May (Lynn), New Minas, NS and sister Joyce Snow (Tony) Wing’s Point, NL.  Predeceased by his parents, Morgan and Lucy May; his sister Emily; his brothers Winston, Morgan, Eugene and Harvey; and great grandson Ryan. ADAMS, EVELYN JANE

June 15, 1939 – November 13, 2018
Evelyn Jane Adams (nee Pilgrim) was born in St. Lewis to Wesley and Clara Pilgrim on June 15th, 1939. She married Harold and together they raised seven children, Patricia, Mary, Oral, Calvin, Waddell, Joan and Bert. She was blessed with 22 grandchildren and a large number of great grandchildren. Evelyn was a remarkable lady with a heart of gold and she loved her family unconditionally. She loved to cook for her family and everyone loved her homemade bread. She also loved to knit. She was well known for her kindness and generosity and she was always there to lend a helping hand to all. Evelyn Leaves to Mourn, her Sons, Oral, Calvin (Lisa), Waddell (Gaye), Bert (Robyn); Daughters, Patricia (Stafford), Mary (Randy), Joan (Glenn); Brothers, Eric, Albert, Fredrick, Murdock, Leonard & Leon; Sisters, Betty, Millicent & Alice; 22 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren and a large circle of other relatives and close friends. GENGE, ROCKEY MELVIN

Passed away November 30th, 2018 from the Charles S. Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony at the age of 38 years. Rockey will be remembered by so many people, he had a great love for his family, friends and caretakers. Everyone who met Rockey had a story to tell. He never forgot your name, your children’s name or your cat and dog’s name. The past ten years, he visited the hospital frequently for dialysis. During his time there, he came to know many of the nurses and staff, and loved them all dearly. Dialysis makes many people tired- but not Rockey. He would go to darts, visit family, friends, and chat on the phone all night. In his short life of thirty eight years he enjoyed life to the fullest. There was never a dull moment when he was around, he will be sorely missed by everyone he knew. Rockey will be remembered by, Melvin and Helena Genge, Jamie, Shelley, Alexis, and Anna Tucker, Evelyn Genge and the large circle of family and friends that his life touched. Visitation was held from the Anglican Church in Anchor Point from where the family service was held on Tuesday, November 4th, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Omar Reyes officiating. Interment followed. November 23, 1942 - November 27, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Jasper Adams announce his passing at the L.A. Miller Center in St. John’s, NL on November 27th. Jasper passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family. Born in Roddickton, November 23, 1942, Jasper had a love for fishing, hunting, berry picking, music and his family. Left with the greatest memories are his wife Betty, daughters Debbie Fillier (Keywood), Kathy King (Craig), son Robert (Carolyn), his grandchildren Terri-Lynn Fillier (Brent), Brandon Filler (Nicole) and Ethan King, great grandson Grayson Randell. Also to mourn his brothers Leamon (Emily), Jerry (Joanne), Dorman (Denise), sisters Clara (Simon), Rowena, Evelyn (Larry), Triffena (Dan) along with a large number of family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents James and Elizabeth Adams, brothers Baxter and James, sisters Lavinia, Mildred and Olive. A special thank you to the staff of the L.A. Miller Center, Palliative Care Unit that provided such good care to Jasper and his family. ANDERSON, DOROTHY EMMA

May 11, 1936 – November 30, 2018

Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family on November 30th at the age of 82. Dorothy Emma Anderson (nee Decker) was born in Lower Woods near Cook’s Harbour on May 11, 1936 to Garland and Dorcas Decker (nee Downer). She was one of nine children. On August 9, 1956 she married Gower Anderson of L’Anse Aux Meadows and together they raised six children and one grandchild. Dorothy opened the first grocery store in L’Anse Aux Meadows in 1956 which she operated for 30 years. Among her many accomplishments was her desire for education, so in 1992 she went back to school and completed her high school diploma. From Tupperware representative to volunteering with Parks Canada as a Viking, she showed her love for meeting new people. She spent countless hours berry picking and caring for her flower garden from which she lovingly shared her flowers with everyone. Her cabin, friends, and family were very dear to her heart. Her infectious smile was one of her greatest traits for which she will always be remembered. Dorothy leaves to mourn her daughters Bernice (George), Bonnie, Colleen (Eric); sons Gerald (Norma), Kevin (Donna), Kirby (Lisa); grandchildren Kristopher (Amanda), Tara, Kathryn (Eric), Elizabeth, Kyle and Meghan; sisters Myrtle, Bessie (Seymour); brothers-in-law Dorman (Rose), Maxwell (Gladys); sister-in-law Juanita Decker as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.  She was predeceased by her parents Garland and Dorcas; brothers Reginald, Maxwell, Harold, Douglas & Lloyd; sister Margaret; sisters-in-law Ivy, Deborah, Frances & Helen; brothers-in-law Wilfred, Ross, Alfred & Job. HEDDERSON, ETHEL (Nee HILL)

May 29, 1931 to November 27, 2018

Mother was born in St. Anthony on May 29th, 1931, to Jacob and Phoebe Hill of Gunner's Cove. She was one of 11 children. On October 29th, 1948 she married Walter George Hedderson of Spillard's Cove. Together they raised 6 children. As a young woman, Ethel worked with Lundrigans as a cook, when they were putting the roads through the area. At the same time, she took in boarders from Hydro and Newfoundland Telephone, as well as teachers. Many of these people considered her as, and called her “Mother,” and many are still a part of her family. She also worked at Fishery Products and cooked at St. Anthony Interfaith Home. Mother loved being in the outdoors. She worked side by side with her husband cutting wood, making hay, salting and drying fish, planting her gardens, berry picking and attending to the livestock. For many years now, attending church was a huge part of her life. Her family and her church were near and dear to her heart. She leaves to mourn her Daughters, Nina (Bob), Grace (Don), and Marie (Dennis); Sons, Clayton (Judy), Todd (Lorna) and John (Jane); 12 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great, Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Louise (Fred) and Doris (Joe); Brothers, Art (Violet) and Abe (Selma); Special Friend Jenny Taylor; Brothers-in-law, Carl Hillier, Bill Coish; Sisters-in-law, Marie Hill and Faye Hill as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Ethel was predeceased by her Husband Walter; Sisters, Gertie, Sybil, Mae and Vie; Brothers, Frank and Clayton; . In lieu of flowers, Ethel asked that any donations be made to the Memorial Fund of Central United Church. Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family on November 20, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by her husband Wallace, baby daughter, parents Uriah and Levinia Cull, and brother Wallace. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter Shirley (Kevin), son Ronnie (Bonita), daughter Shelley (Paul), Precious grandchildren Sheryl (Darren), Kevin, Steven (Anna), Sara (Chris), Curtis (Megan), and Brooke. Great Grandchildren Parker, Preston and Claire. Also her very, very special niece Nadine (Kiera and Rileigh). Sister Pearl, brothers Ronald (Joyce), Norman (Margaret), Pearce (Pauline), Carl (Lillian), Sister in Laws Marie, Doris (Wilson), Jessie, Ella, Neta and Clara.
